The Catalan Researcher Mobility Node is the meeting platform for several organisations and institutionssharing the priority of encouraging the Catalonia’s attractiveness for researchers from all over the world.
The Node aims to co-ordinate and maximise efficiency of welcoming and hosting services for researchers, to avoid unnecessary dispersion and duplication of efforts in meeting common needs and lacks of hosting institutions and centres.
The Node has been managed by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI)since 2005 and it is the result of the collaboration among all Catalan Universities and ICREA, AGAUR, DIUE and research centres.
Its role is to:
Develop joint activities with other organisations to promote the attractiveness of Catalonia’s research talent in international exhibitions, Internet, etc.
Increase the Catalan presence in the Spanish and European network mobility centres, so called EURAXESS.
Enable easy access of scientists into the Catalan research and innovation system, by sharing services and/or information among the signatory institutions.
Organise workshops and seminars to encourage the training of mobility experts.
Make specific services (managed by the FCRI) available: job bank, mobility guide, tailored advice service, etc.
Exchange and manage related information for hosting researchers: document repository, proceedings manual, mailing list, etc.
Support mechanisms for meeting lacks and needs and acting as a lobby: creating and co-ordinating working groups, participating in working groups promoted by other institutions, etc.
Encourage collaboration lines with public institutions (Catalan, Spanish and European administrations), and other specific collaborating agreements with other related institutions
The Node ties in with the mobility strategy for the ERA (European Research Area). It is a part of the EURAXESS network, which helps European and non-European researchers as they move about Europe and is a member of the Spanish Network of Mobility Centres . In both cases, the Node is represented by the FCRI
