For teaching staff and students who wish to learn Spanish (also an official language at Catalan universities), classroom instruction is offered at all universities. Alternatively, students can study Spanish through the Cervantes Institute network.

The official language of Spain is Spanish (or Castilian), which is spoken by all of the country's inhabitants. Some of Spain's autonomous communities have their own language. This is the case of Catalan in Catalonia, Galician in Galicia, and the Basque language (Euskera) in the Basque Country and parts of Navarra.
